The land itself was a desolation, lifeless, without movement, so lone and cold that the spirit of it was not even that of sadness. There was a hint in it of laughter that was mirthless as the smile of sphinx, a laughter cold as the frost and partaking of the grimness of infallibility. It was the masterful and incommunicable wisdom of eternity laughing at the futility of life and the effort of life. It was the wild, the savage, frozen hearted Northland wild”.
~Whit Fank by Jack London“Dark spruce forest frowned on either side the frozen waterway” Alex entered the spruce forest feeling cold and hungry after the excitement of leaving his life behind and entering the wild, and after the food ran out. Having nothing to eat in the chilly wind Alex begins to realize that life in the wild might not be as exhilarating as he would have liked. The forest does not usually smile to everyone entering it. It might have taken Alex a while to realize how dark and lonely the forest can become.

Life in the wild can sometimes be exciting and maybe even thrilling. Alex might have enjoyed a few weeks in the wild, having fun and fulfilling his dream. Yet there might have been a time when Alex felt lonely, maybe even missing his parents. Sitting lonely in the dark cold forest, with hunger and only a few books to read, Alex remembered his life back in Virginia where there were people around him even if they were not always kind. Even his parents whom he described as hypocrites and liars in the dark forest he could probably see that life with his family might not have been as bad as he thought it was. Going to the wild was a great adventure, it might have been fun and exhilarating, but Alex realized that the adventure should come to an end.

Sometimes the decisions we make in life do not work out as well as we would have liked. Chris McCandless made the decision to come to the wild, but now he could see the forest laughing at him for his foolish decision; coming into the wild unprepared to face the dangers is probably the biggest mistake he made in his lifetime.
“It was the masterful and incommunicable wisdom of eternity laughing at the futility of life and the effort of life.” Chris ignored the warning that wiser, older, and more experienced people told him. Many people tried to warn Alex of the danger he was about to face. Alex might have been able to survive in the wild, if he had listened to other people’s advice such as Jim Gallien, who advised Chris to take some extra supplies with him. A little more food and a warmer jacket and Alex might have been able to survive in the wild. He could have avoided the hunger and cold that killed him.
“It was the wild, the savage, frozen hearted Northland Wild” This was the end of Alexander Supertramp who had taken over the mind of a young, successful, healthy man and led him to his death in the frozen hearted wild, and there alone without any food or a warm jacket Alex/Chris died.

But when a Palestinian does that to save his son from being killed, his brother's arm being broken, his mother being raped, his home being destroyed, and his mosque being violated --- He gets the title of 'terrorist'! Why? Because he is a "Muslim"! When there is trouble, we accept any solution available, right? However, if the solution lies in Islam, we refuse to take a look at it.
But when any Muslim makes a mistake or treats people in a bad manner - people say "Islam is the reason"!
Without giving a glance at Islamic laws, people believe what the newspapers say.
But question what the Holy QURAN says!

In the Islamic calendar, the 12th day of Rabi-al-Awwal marks the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).There is a difference of opinion about whether the Milad Un-Nabi should be a time of celebration. There is evidence that the Prophet, his Companions, and the early followers after them did not celebrate or otherwise observe his birthday. On the contrary, Muhammad was careful to warn his people not to imitate other faiths, whose followers elevated their prophets and added to the religion what was not in the original teachings.
Those who disagree claim that although not practiced in the early years of Islam, the remembrance of the Prophet's birthday is a "good innovation." They see it as a time to read the Qur'an, and remember the life, teachings, and example of the Prophet Muhammad.

being 17 years old is hard

Sadly I am now almost 18 years old and I think 18 is even harder than 17... actually it's not that much different since I am still in my last year of High School!! 17 is arguably the hardest age of life
Constantly, we are asked the same questions over and over again. “Where are you going to college?” “What colleges are you applying to?” “What are you going to for a living?” Then we have to worry about our grades, are they good enough? Am I studying enough? Am I doing enough? Are my parents going to kill me for that “lower-than-ideal GPA”? Then we have to worry about our SAT’s and making the high grade on that test we studied so hard for to get an A (or at least a passing grade). Then Mid Term exams, which weighs just as much as a whole 6 weeks grade, which is 1/4th of the semester grade. We constantly have to keep some hand sanitizer close on hand, because we feel we can’t afford to get sick, or we will miss too much homework and get behind. If there is a boyfriend or girlfriend in our lives, we try our best to spend at least some time with him or her, even if that means cutting into some of our studying time. We feel exhausted because we have too little sleep to function normally. Our parents yell and scream at us because we’ve had too much on our minds to remember to unload the dishwasher or take out the trash. Parents don’t understand that our lives are very stressful and complicated, nor does anybody else who is not 17. This is the stage in life where we have to find ourselves and know exactly what we want to do in life. What we choose to do is most likely the most important decision we ever make in our life time.

I found this cool article on sparknotes and thought I would share :)
In the Olden Days, when they didn’t have Google or public school and they sat around and ate rocks all the time (they don’t make rocks like they used to, by the way), humanity had superstitions and mythical figures to account for everyday happenings, like why the sun comes up and why seasons change.
But in this day and age, when burritos have replaced rocks and iPhones have replaced…square rocks, there aren’t as many superstitions hanging around, and humanity is suffering because of it! Probably, anyway.
So here, friends, is my list of the mythical creatures for the 21st century!
The Fire Drill Fairy
This fairy doesn’t give that sissy little tinkle-tinkle of a magic bell. This one goes BLAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG and pulls you away from classes and tests. This fairy means good luck when you’re taking a nerve-racking essay test, so be sure to thank her by tinkling a little silver bell before finishing that test the next day.
The Awkward Goblin
Wherever the Awkward Goblin goes, conversations wilt and texts convos dry up, so that the only thing left to say is "sooooooo…," and silence reigns. Expect this imp to rear his warty head when you are speaking to your crush, a python, or your crush’s pet python. Do not fear, however! In many cases, this evil spirit can be warded off by the holy sign of the Awkward Turtle! Simply put your two hands on top of each other, pointing away from you, and wiggle your thumbs like nobody’s business.
The Jerk Demon
This evil creature mostly affects men. No matter how awesome a guy is, the Jerk Demon will harry him, buzzing by his ear and whispering "BOOOOOOBZ!" It is his choice whether to stay on the straight and narrow path of awesomeness, or go off into the Swamps of Jerkiness. Many men have fallen. Oh, so many.
The Drama Beast
More accurately pronounced, the Duh-RAMA!!!!!!!!!! Beast. Whereas the Jerk Demon affects mostly guys, the Drama Beast finds a foothold in so many women, clinging to their back and causing them to take everything way too seriously. Girls suffering from prolonged exposure to the Drama Beast often lose their ability to chill.
The Nerd Lord
A benevolent god of nerdiness, giving his followers gifts in the form of obscure references when they least expect them to come. His followers are a people apart, but are growing rapidly.
The LOL Cats
These cats are the cutest, most fun little things, coming into conversations randomly, riding their little ROFLcopters and spreading laughter. However, like the tribbles from Star Trek (Nerd Lord striking here, sorry) they are dangerous when used in large numbers. They can strip a human of all true laughter, causing him to only hiccup. The solution—ALOL cats.Is Coffinmaker missing any mythical figures?

Ice and Thunder in Egypt

When we heard all the thunder and the ice falling we all ran to the balcony to look outside and see.
We found the lost of the neighbors were out watching from the balcony as well.

Jenny was so happy about the house they had found.
For once in her life it was on the right side of town.
She unpacked her things with such great ease.
As she watched her new curtains blow in the breeze.
How wonderful it was to have her own room.
School would be starting; she'd have friends over soon.
There'd be sleep-overs, and parties; she was so happy
It's just the way she wanted her life to be.
On the first day of school, everything went great.
She made new friends and even got a date!
She thought, "I want to be popular and I'm going to be,
Because I just got a date with the star of the team!"
To be known in this school you had to have a clout,
And dating this guy would sure help her out.
There was only one problem stopping her fate.
Her parents had said she was too young to date.
"Well, I just won't tell them the entire truth.
They won't know the difference; what's there to lose?"
Jenny asked to stay with her friends that night.
Her parents frowned but said, "All right."
Excited, she got ready for the big event
But as she rushed around like she had no sense,
She began to feel guilty about all the lies,
But what's a pizza, a party, and a moonlight ride?
Well, the pizza was good, and the party was great,
but the moonlight ride would have to wait.
For Jeff was half drunk by this time.
She felt someone remove her from the twisted rubble,
And heard, "call an ambulance! These kids are in trouble!"
Voices she heard...a few words at best.
But she knew there were two cars involved in the wreck.
Then wondered to herself if Jeff was all right,
And if the people in the other car was alive.
She awoke in the hospital to faces so sad.
"You've been in a wreck and it looks pretty bad."
These voices echoed inside her head,
As they gently told her that Jeff was dead.
They said "Jenny, we've done all we can do.
But it looks as if we'll lose you too."
"But the people in the other car?" Jenny cried.
"We're sorry, Jenny, they also died."
Jenny prayed, "God, forgive me for what I've done,
I only wanted to have just one night of fun."
"Tell those people's family, I've made their lives dim,
And wish I could return their families to them."
"Tell Mom and Dad I'm sorry I lied,
And that it's my fault so many have died."
"Oh, nurse, won't you please tell them that for me?"
The nurse just stood there-she never agreed.
But took Jenny's hand with tears in her eyes.
And a few moments later Jenny died.
A man asked the nurse, "Why didn't you do your best
To bid that girl her one last request?"
She looked at the man with eyes so sad.
"Because the people in the other car were her Mom and Dad."

For some reason I always seem to have a fascination for blue roses!
According to wikipedia blue roses traditionally signify a mystery, or attaining the impossible, or never ending quest for the impossible. They are believed to be able to grant the owner youth or grant wishes. Historically, this symbolism derives from the rose's meaning in the language of flowers common in Victorian times. Blue roses also convey inner feelings of love at first sight, being enchanted by something or someone. The color blue is also traditionally associated with royal blood, and thus the blue rose can also denote regal majesty and splendor. Elaborate use of this symbolism is adopted by Ken Roberts in his book "A Rich Man's Secret". In Chinese folklore, the blue rose signifies hope against unattainable love
